I have been on and off medication throughout my ten years of suffering with from adult acne. Nothing cures it but I have managed to find products that help me get clearer, calmer skin. I wrote a post on “How I Got Rid Of My Acne” which focused on the products that made the most difference but I wanted to share additional products in a round-up post that I find useful to help deal with pesky pimples, redness, and inflammation.
Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel
I haven’t used this in years (I’ve never seen Avene in-store in the US) but always picked it up in Boots at home. Its so inexpensive, gentle and really, really helps take down redness. I used it in the shower on my face, back and chest. So technically it’s more like an acne body wash than just a cleanser. Its also great for sensitive skin and is soap and paraben free.
Paula’s Choice Clear Extra Strength Acne-Prone Skin
I talked a lot about his product in my post, “How I Got Rid Of My Acne” – it made a significant difference for me and is so inexpensive for the results. It brings down redness, aggressive spots and keeps your skin at bay if you continue to use it. The kit contains a cleanser (which I use in the shower), an Exfoliating Solution with 2% Salicylic Acid and a Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide. You really need to be sure to use all three at once to see the best results. Again, it can be used on your chest and back if you need to treat those areas as well. Be careful if you have dry skin as this can definitely dry it out easily. I recommend Declare Hydro Balance Oceans Best Mask if you find you need a boost of moisture. Cloud10Beauty.com offer a trial kit for €31.50 – for those of you who aren’t fully convinced, it’s so worth trying!
Declare Gentle Cleansing Milk

Vichy Dermablend SOS Corrector Concealer Stick
Another super product for concealing is this Dermablend concealer. While Vichy has a full collection of Dermablend products, I found the concealer to be most useful since its difficult to find a good concealer for blemishes that doesn’t flake or dry up. I use this on my undereye sometimes, it’s easy to apply and works wonders.
